Butler Training – Security Awareness

Posted on: April 29th, 2013 by Butler Academy 4 Comments

BUTLER TRAINING & BUTLER SERVICE – SECURITY AWARENESS

Today at the Butler Academy we enjoyed a fundamental training day with Mr. Alhadeph from Global Intelligence.  Security awareness is the knowledge and attitude members of an organization possess regarding the protection of the physical and especially, information assets of that organization. Many organizations require formal security awareness training for all workers when they join the organization and periodically thereafter, usually annually.

In today`s ever changing climate we equip our Butlers with the understanding of protecting them selves and the interests of there clients.    Being security aware means you understand that there is the potential for some people to deliberately or accidentally steal, damage, or misuse property.

Valet Service – Butler Training

EMPLOYER & VALET:

The relationship between the employer and the valet is very important. The valet will know his employer’s most intimate secrets and the employer must feel that they are in safe and reliable hands. A Valet will always have a genuine respect for his employer no matter how close they become.

The valet’s duties may include acting as a Butler, houseman, secretary and chauffeur. The Valet will usually maintain his employer’s wardrobe but the employer will always rely on the valet for other reasons. He must know his employer very well and should be able to anticipate what his employer may need without having to be told.

VALET SERVICES:

The valet will take care of the following:

Laundry Management – Butler Training

Today at the Butler Academy we are Ironing to our hearts content!

Butler Training – Ironing Lab

The “Laurastar ironing lab” will be used today as we demonstrate how to iron a formal shirt, trousers, casual wear and formal wear. The Laurastar is spectacular and a first for the Butler Academy. Our students receive only the best training as we use the worlds leading ironing system.

Butler Ironing Tips:

How to Properly Iron Shirts, Pants, and Skirts

Ironing clothes is one of those tasks that has a tendency to be a bit terrifying, but worry not, it just seems overly complicated.  Some fabric types might need special attention, but other than that it’s all pretty much the same.

Shirts

Ironing shirts is quicker and easier than you might think, it should only take an average of three minutes to properly iron a shirt, and that’s doing it the right way.

  • It’s best to start with the sleeves, since they’ll be just fine hanging off the sides of the ironing board while you finish the rest of the shirt. Doing it the other way around, and leaving the sleeves for last, will end up causing wrinkles in other parts of the shirt that you’ve already ironed.

  • Open the cuffs! This is something that many ironing newcomers get wrong all the time, but it’s not just easier to open the cuffs and lay them flat, but it lets you do a better job ironing the whole sleeve, too.

  • When doing the collar of the shirt, make sure you open it up and lay it flat. Just like the cuffs, people tend to think that this is opposite of what they should do, since they’re used to seeing the collar in the down position at all times.

  • Afterwards, let the shirt hang for a few minutes to fully cool down. Ironing heats the fabric to a very high relative temperature, and the “flatness” actually sets in during the cool-down phase, so wearing it immediately could negate some of the hard work you just put into ironing it in the first place.

Introduction to the world of Butlers – Butler Training

Posted on: April 18th, 2013 by Butler Academy 1 Comment

Today was another excellent day at Butler School!

We received visits from top residential Butlers working in Cape Town. To all our Butlers who are working in Cape Town thank you for your inspirational messages and teaching our new student butlers the know how!

Did you know?

A butler is a servant in a wealthy, large household or estate. In great houses, the household is sometimes divided into departments with the butler in charge of the dining room, wine cellar, and pantry. Some also have charge of the entire parlor floor, men’s wardrobe, and housekeepers caring for the entire house and its appearance. The butler, as the senior servant, typically has the highest servant status. The butler is in charge of food service, wine, spirits, and silver, supervises other servants, and may perform a wide array of household management duties. Butlers may also be titled majordomo, butler administrator, staff manager, or head of household staff, and in the grandest homes or when the employer owns more than one residence, there is sometimes an estate manager of higher rank than the butler.
